The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger Over Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
